Volunteer Resources

Volunteering with Utah Pollinator Pursuit is as simple as identifying pollinator species and submitting that data on your phone or computer. Below, you can find guides that will guide you in both of those processes—photographic guides to identifying pollinators, and a text and video walk-through for reporting sightings on the iNaturalist app.

Pollinator Identification Guides:

Using iNaturalist to Submit Data:

Step 1: Download the free "iNaturalist" app by searching in the App store on your phone. The icon is white with a green bird.

Step 2: Open the app and “Sign Up” to create an account.

Step 3: Join the “Utah Pollinator Pursuit” project on iNaturalist.

Step 4: Submit your observations by selecting the “Observe” button, choosing your media (Camera or Photo Library"), and uploading! All observations submitted that are, 1. observed in Utah, and 2. fall within pollinator taxa, are automatically included in the Utah Pollinator Pursuit observation log.

Step 5: iNaturalist depends on community scientists to peer review submissions, so as you become more familiar with pollinators, we invite you to review observations that are shared within the project. This helps us efficiently sort through the large data set that our community scientists share!
